Aqiqah Rulings for Newborns: Gratitude and Charity

Orphan Care & Seasons Published: June 2026

The Aqiqah is the sacrifice offered on behalf of a newborn child, usually on the seventh day after birth, as an expression of gratitude to Allah. It is an established Sunnah: 'Every child is pledged to his Aqiqah, which is sacrificed on his behalf'.

The Sunnah is to sacrifice two sheep for a baby boy and one sheep for a baby girl. The meat is prepared and distributed, with a large share given to the poor and needy to share the joy and thank the Creator for a healthy baby.

Aman Charity provides Aqiqah voucher services. We sacrifice the animal on your behalf according to Islamic conditions and distribute the fresh meat directly to poor families and orphans, sending you a photo/video confirmation.
